WHY BRUNECK-BRUNICO

Bruneck (Italian: Brunico) is the largest town in the Pustertal (Val Pusteria, Puster Valley) in the autonomous Italian province of Bozen-Bolzano/South Tyrol. Bruneck is about 70 km (44 miles) from Bozen (Bolzano) and from the Brenner Pass, the boarder to Austria.

The historical city of Bruneck (Italian: Brunico) …

…is on 835 m above sea level, situated in the middle of a wide basin and surrounded by beautiful high mountains. The city, mentioned for the first time in a document in 1256, is the centre of the Pustertal Valley and regarded as cultural centre as well as shopping centre for the whole Pustertal Valley. Not only the good location of the city is well known, but also the restaurants, pubs and nightclubs are very famous and guarantee fabulous stays. Furthermore the city of Bruneck organizes many celebrations and events for every age group. And do not forget the numerous and wonderful sights like the castle, the city museum or the parish church.

On the trail of culture

For everyone who loves fine art and all that goes with it, Bruneck is exactly the right place to pursue his/her hobby. Enjoy the Castle of Bruneck, or else visit the Museum of Folklore in Dietenheim, go to the City Museum of Graphic Arts, have a look at the works of the surrounding area and be prepared to explore some new antiquities during a guided city tour or during your evening walk through Bruneck. Get fascinated about legends and true stories passed on by word of mouth, feel as if you are taken back to former times and enjoy the numerous concerts and events in Bruneck and surroundings.
